Protecting Healthcare Access

We are losing hospitals and healthcare providers across the commonwealth at an alarming rate. In fact, in the past five years, Pennsylvania has lost 26 hospitals which endangers access for millions of residents and has resulted in loss of thousands of jobs.

We are not immune to this in Delaware County. The loss of Crozer Health System left over half a million people with only two acute care hospitals in the county and saw over 2600 professionals lose their jobs. Private equity decimated one of the largest health systems in Delco and has done the same thing in rural, suburban, and urban communities across the commonwealth.

Lisa has been fighting back. For two sessions she has championed stronger legislation which would provide the attorney general with tools to provide more oversight and insight into mergers and acquisitions by private equity. Both bills passed out of the house with bi-partisan support, only to be stalled in the senate. In addition, Lisa has supported legislation to prevent to proliferation of AI in healthcare, educational support for nurses entering the workforce, expanding scope of practice for many professionals to mirror practice standards in the states surrounding PA so we stop losing our professionals to other states, and supporting legislation to make it easier for people to see their doctor.
